Artist Profile: Nikki Niedringhaus

Welcome Nikki Niedringhaus to our Midtown Art Wall!

Nikki Niedringhaus’ nature-inspired collection is our newest artist feature at the Midtown Scoop Shop! Nikki makes use of different mediums, including digital art, pressed flowers, charcoal and ink drawings, to capture small moments of whimsy and enchantment in our Alaskan forests. We hope you’ll stop by and check it out soon!

We caught up with Nikki for some Q&A:

What inspired the pieces for this collection?

Having a toddler and spending my days reading fairy tales and animal adventures has made me see everyday life through a new, more magical lens. I wanted these pieces to transport you back to the wonder of childhood and remind you of the magic that surrounds us here in Alaska.

Tell us a bit about yourself as an artist.

I started as a graphic designer and later moved into advertising—lots of late nights and not-so-exciting work! Moving to Girdwood changed my life; it gave me a sense of artistic freedom and a chance to dive back into drawing, painting, and creating art. Now, as a full-time mom, I’m still up late, but in a more fulfilling way, sneaking in creative time whenever I can. I’m grateful to live in such an inspiring place where I can do what I love. This is my first solo show, and I’m so proud to share it with you all!

What else would you like to share about your process, drive, or artistic journey?

My art is as varied as my brain, constantly juggling multiple tabs open at once—sometimes I’m sketching new ideas, and other times I’m wandering in the woods, collecting sticks and flowers, and soaking in the Girdwood cottage vibes. I love exploring different creative media, which is why my work has a bit of everything… or maybe I’m just a really great procrastinator!

Favorite Wild Scoops flavor?

I get so excited when Udderly Ube comes out in the summer! It’s rich, comforting, and always makes my heart warm. I always get asked what Ube is, but it's hard to capture that beautiful flavor in words!

Fun fact?

I designed this year's Alaska State Fair poster!

How can we follow your art?

I share my illustrations and food guides on my Instagram, @palo.haus. Come say hi!
